Can you help me out?

I’m writing a book about teen feminism. I’m looking for UK-based teen feminists (Aged 13-19) to interview.

I’d especially like to talk to teens who identify as Trans, are BME, or disabled.

If you’re interested, or know someone who might be, please let me know! And feel free to ask me anything.

And please share with people who you think would be good to interview!!

My email’s yasthatannoyingfeminist@aol.co.uk

Thanks :)

I edit for the amazing US-based international activist organisation Powered By Girl. We aim to give young women (ages 13-22) opportunities in writing and activism. Tell David Cameron that you want #BetterSexEducation. I've teamed up with the Telegraph's Wonder Woman to petition for Sex Education for the 21st century. Please listen to our arguments and sign our petition.

Calling all awesome people! YOU can put an end to Page 3. Join me in the fight and let's combat the nonsense.

I ask you to add your voice to the protest. Come along and write a message for David Dinsmore (new editor of the Sun) about why Page 3 should be gotten rid of from Britain's biggest selling family newspaper. At the end of the day we will deliver the messages up to the Sun's offices in the form of a big origami bouquet of flowers. We will also be making a short video in protest that will go up on this blog - and I know you want to have your beautiful face on here...

You can come.
You can fight.
You can influence change.
We can make a difference.

Meet me outside the News International HQ (3 Thomas More Square, London, E98 1XY) on Saturday 6th July 2013 at 2pm for some serious kick-ass protest (and biscuits!!) NO MORE PAGE 3!!!

  1. I would like my youngest Granddaughter to grow up in a better world & not to suffer the indignities experienced by her older female relatives.

  2. Youre wasting your time. Page 3 isnt going to go anytime soon. It isnt porn and its easy to avoid if its not your thing. The sun is out, find something more worthwhile to do. Protesting this is the nonsense. Its here to stay and long may it continue.

    1. I'm sure they said something like that about women getting the vote - you won't get it, don't bother. It's not really an argument, is it?

    2. Page 3 is a sexist, derogatory and harmful institution that has gone on long enough. As long as there are people around who believe that Page 3 isn't a big deal and that protesting against it is "nonsense," there will be reason to fight against it. I might be able to avoid Page 3, but many children will grow up exposed to it, and that is where the true problem lies. "Long may it continue" -this statement is demeaning, misogynistic, and therefore offensive. Women deserve the right to be represented fairly in the media, and therefore we will keep protesting until we get the respect we deserve. Equality is always worthwhile.

    3. Yes, they said that about slavery too. And smoking in public places. And sending little boys up chimneys.
Maybe you should read some history and psychology. You may find that you can feel good about yourself without needing unjustifiable power over others eg seeing them naked when you are clothed.
      Have a good summer.

    5. It is possible to appreciate the human form and show respect for people. You take the view that does not seem to be possible. Parents are ultimately responsible for content kids are exposed too and that is a fact of life. They will see worse things at school like bullying and violence and youre worried about them seeing the human body. Its stupid. Its people like you who are actually offensive, judging people which makes you misogynistic by nature. You think about that.

As for the person telling me to read up my history and psychology. I have a psychology degree thank you. The point you have attempted to make is rather perverse. I should imagine Victorian Britain would be a rather appropriate home for you.

  3. Good luck to you on your protest. I wish I could be there. To the person above who thinks that just not buying The Sun is the answer - you clearly do not understand the issue. The point is, that as a society where our young children and adults are increasingly exposed to porn and the proven harmful effects of it, we can not have any meaningful debate about porn exposure whilst a mainstream 'family' newspaper is still publishing picture of semi-naked young women.

    1. Actually I do understand the issue. First of all, it isnt porn. Thats the bit you struggle with. Embed that into your brain. Its a newspaper. Its not geared to kids. How many times does this need explaining to you ? What proven harmful effects do you have ? Where is the evidence ? There isnt any. If you dont want to see it, dont buy it. And if you do buy it, the responsibility of keeping it away from kids is yours.

    2. You sound rather sociopathetic in nature...you're exactly the problem society is trying to fight. bless you, truely. You need to see the bigger picture before it's too late.

  4. Damn! I'm on the Isle of Wight and only found out about this today; too late to get up there.
Anyway, the best of luck and well done for organizing this. Anything that makes that treacherous despoiler of our culture sweat is a good thing. Page 3 is a national embarrassment.
